Feel the thrill of spaceflight through motion-based simulators, Work in teams to investigate space travel in the new millennium, Design space exploration vehicles and habitats, Meet and speak with an astronaut, Perform actual space shuttle mission simulation, strap into the shuttle launch experience with educational activities led by experienced instructors and have some fun at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Epcot Center & Magic Kingdom.
Day 01: Fly India - Orlando
Welcome to Orlando – The fun capital of the United States of America
On arrival at Orlando, you will be transferred to your hotel to wash, change and freshen up after a long inter-continental flight. The rest of the evening is at leisure to relax at the hotel pool and acclimatize to your surroundings.
Day 02: Orlando
After breakfast this morning you will proceed for a day of fun at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Home to more than 1,700 animals from 250 species and sprawling across 500 acres of lush landscape, this is the largest animal-themed park in the world! The park is divided into 7 areas, and in each area you have an opportunity to encounter real and fantastic animals. Get close enough to pet some of them, or ask for an autograph! Exciting attractions await, as does live and wild entertainment – like Broadway-style musical shows and parades that invite you to be part of the excitement.
Day 03: Orlando - Cape Canaveral
After breakfast early this morning you will be transferred to Cape Canaveral to commence the International Camp at the Kennedy Space Center. On arrival you will be introduced to your Space Camp Educator at the Base Camp. Your Educator will explain to you the concept of space travel and guide you through the early years of NASA. You will encounter and photograph the actual rockets, spaceships, spacecraft and spacesuits from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs while hearing stories of early space heroes.
After lunch you will view a fantastic 3-D IMAX film on the space centers 5-storey IMAX screen. You will then proceed to the viewing area for Launch Complex 39 as your Educator guides you through a detailed explanation of the site from where Apollo 11 started its historic journey to the moon.
You will then be assigned a hands-on science and engineering project through which you will demonstrate the ways in which net force can act on an object.
Day 04: Cape Canaveral
After breakfast this morning you will transfer to the Kennedy Space Center to continue your voyage of discovery. After a morning briefing, your educator will lead you through the science of rocketry, propulsion and Newton’s Laws as you construct and launch your own air rocket in the field adjacent to the huge rockets in the historical Rocket Garden. Stand a chance to win a prize for distance, design and accuracy.
After lunch you will be transported to the spectacular Apollo/Saturn V Center to encounter a moon rocket and witness mans first launch into lunar orbit, and the first footsteps on the moon. Later this afternoon you will be introduced to students from the local KSC camp, and will be encouraged to find a local pen-pal and swap e-mail addresses.
You will team up with new friends and will be presented with a NASA engineering challenge: To design, build and test a truss segment similar to those that might be used aboard future space craft. Here you will learn that technological design should require taking into account constraints such as natural laws, properties of the material used, economic, political, social, ethical and aesthetic values.
Day 05: Cape Canaveral
After breakfast this morning you will transfer to the Kennedy Space Center to continue your voyage of discovery. This morning your educator will give you an up to date briefing on the state of International space efforts with the highlights and achievements of each space faring nation.
You will then view yet another spectacular 3D IMAX film with your teammates. After lunch, this afternoon you will meet an actual astronaut who will talk about the future of space exploration. Feel free to ask questions and interact closely with your guest space explorer who will then hand you an autographed souvenir.
You will then explore a full scale model of the International Space Station, and learn about daily life aboard the ISS and the various types of research and science being conducted by the international crew of astronauts on board. You will see actual flight equipment, international modules and hardware of the ISS on the processing floor of the KSC being prepared for liftoff aboard the Space Shuttle.
Later this evening you will learn about future space travel to Mars, as your teams are challenged to build and test a Mars Rocket Rover. Test trials are conducted and wining teams will be awarded prizes.
Day 06: Cape Canaveral
After breakfast this morning you will transfer to the Kennedy Space Center to continue your voyage of discovery.
This morning your Educator will assist you as you design and construct an ‘Eggstroanut Crew Vehicle’ as you experience the law of conservation of energy, you will learn that vibrations in material set up wave disturbances and spread from the source and learn that many forces act at a distance. Your eggstroanut will be evaluated for strength and flight accuracy.
After lunch this afternoon you will be given a guided tour of a full scale mock up of the Space Shuttle Explorer followed by an amazing simulation ride where you ‘Get Vertical’ and replicate the thrill of launching into space aboard the Space Shuttle.
Later this evening your Educator will guide you through an introduction to the importance of robotics in planetary exploration.
Day 07: Cape Canaveral
After breakfast this morning you will be transferred to the Kennedy Space Center for yet another day of fun learning.
This morning your Educator will take you on a guided tour of Astronaut memorabilia and an actual Mercury and Apollo spacecraft ship. You will then have time off in the simulator room to experience a variety of simulations including the G-force centrifuge, shuttle landing simulator and mission to Mars.
After lunch at the Picnic Pavilion, your Educator will take you to the training floor to experience the thrill of motion-based astronaut training simulators including the Multi-Axis trainer, Zero-Gravity Wall, 1/6th Gravity Trainer amongst others.
Late this evening prepare yourself for your graduation ceremony, where you are awarded a certificate of completion and prize distribution.
Day 08: Cape Canaveral - Cocoa Beach - Orlando
Early this morning you will have some time to relax at Cocoa Beach or just walk barefoot in the glorious sands of this pristine environment. After breakfast you will be transferred to Disney’s Epcot Center for a day of fun and relaxation.
