Does Santa Claus live only in fairy tales? No you will meet him at his home in Rovaniemi, in the Arctic Circle.

Fly to Helsinki, after completing immigration and customs you will take the connecting flight to Rovaniemi. On arrival you will be transferred to your deluxe 4 star hotel located in the center of town.

After a warm hearty breakfast this morning, you will visit a local school.

Experience first hand how classes are conducted in Finland. Let the local Geography teacher explain to you the intricacies of the Aurora Borealis spectacle. The local students will put up a small skit showcasing life in the Arctic circle, and should you like to reciprocate, perhaps you can showcase to the local students the highlights of your education experience in India. The local students will host you to lunch in the school cafeteria.

Later this afternoon you will cross into the Arctic Circle and visit Santa Claus at his home in Santa Village. Here you will visit the Christmas exhibition, Santa Claus’s workshop and the main Post Office.

Early this evening you will be transferred by bus to the town of Luosto, in the middle of Finnish Lapland at the world famous Pyha-Luosto National Park.

On arrival you will check in at your hotel and will retire for the night after dinner.

After breakfast this morning you will visit a Reindeer Farm, see how these animals are raised, what they eat and how they are essential to the Sami people. Try your hand at a sleigh and understand how life was before the advent of the smowmobile.

After Lunch this afternoon you will ready yourselves to view nature’s spectacular pyrotechnics in the Northern Sky: the magnificent Aurora Borealis. For many of us who live in the tropics this is a not to be missed once in a lifetime experience.

Dinner will be served at a local restaurant after which you will be transferred back to your hotel for a good nights rest.

After a hearty breakfast this morning you will proceed on a safari to the local Amethyst mines.

Located on the top of Lampivaara, this is the only operative amethyst mine in Europe. It is possibly the only mine in the world that welcomes visitors. In the warm and cozy Lappish hut you will hear the fascinating stories of amethyst, how it was formed millions of years ago, how the place was found and how the mine is run on the permanent progress principle, how people in all cultures have believed in the mystical powers of amethyst and other interesting tales found in ancient legends. You will also have an opportunity to dig and find a personal lucky amethyst which you can keep.

After lunch this afternoon you will have sometime free to participate in some winter sports related activities. Take a short skiing lesson or slide down the hill on a sledge or try your hand at steering a snowmobile.

After breakfast this morning, you will proceed to a nearby farm to encounter the famous Northern Huskies.

In the middle of beautiful and untouched nature of Pyhä-Luosto you will find the Arctic Husky Farm. At the park you will have an opportunity to see and interact with over 100 joyful sled dogs. See how the dogs are cared for, what they are fed and learn interesting aspects of their incredible strength and loyalty.

After lunch this afternoon, you will check out of your hotel and will have some time free for shopping or individual activities before being transferred to Rovaneimi airport for your early evening flight to Helsinki.

On arrival you will be transferred to an Indian restaurant for dinner and then Onwards to your hotel.

After breakfast this morning you will proceed on a sightseeing tour of Helsinki.

See the many sights of Helsinki, visit the Senate Square, Uspenski Cathedral, see the Parliament Building, the Olympic stadium, the Sibelius Monument and if time permits the Temppeliaukio Church.

After lunch visit the local market and take a boat ride to Suomenlinna to see the historical fortress.

Early this evening you will be transferred to Helsinki Airport for your overnight flight back home, with happy memories spent with friends and of your Outlearn Outdoor School Trip.
