The ancient Balinese culture and Hinduism dates back about two thousand years. From time to time Balinese culture develops but the originality and characteristics still remain. This expedition to the fabled lands of Denpasar - Bali is sure to enthrall and excite young minds.
On arrival in Denpasar this evening you will be transferred to your hotel in Kuta or Nusa Dua or Sanur.
After an Indonesian dinner this evening you will be introduced to Balinese dance by a local cultural expert.
After breakfast this morning you will depart for Batubulan to watch the famous Barong dance, which is one of the most complete dance seen from figures, dress and themes of Balinese dance. After lunch this afternoon you will be introduced to the process of Batik making by way of a participatory workshop.
After breakfast this morning you have some time at leisure to indulge in the various water sports activities (own cost) or relax by the pool at your hotel. After lunch this afternoon you will leave for Taman Ayun, the former Royal temple of the Mengwi Kingdom; continue to Alas Kedaton, the Holy Monkey forest inhabited by hundreds of monkeys and on to the stunningly beautiful Tanah Lot temple to view the sunset before being transferred back to your hotel.
After breakfast this morning you will check out of your hotel and will be transferred to Ubud, en-route stop over at Tenganan, an older type of Balinese village, famous for its "Gringsing" double ikat cloth, Goa Lawah, the bats cave temple; Kertagosa, the ancient court house, Goa Gajah, the ancient Buddhist monastery and the holy spring temple at Sebatu Village.
Early this morning we will proceed on an Eco-Cultural Cycling tour of Ubud. After being driven to a gorgeous location for an al-fresco breakfast, you will visit a traditional plantation where they grow cocoa, cinnamon, lemongrass, papaya, vanilla and other cash crops. You will then visit a traditional Balinese house and learn that is not just one structure but several different houses inside a family compound. You will then be issued a bicycle and a helmet to commence your cycling tour around the top part of the island largest volcano with a substantial part of the ride downhill. Whizz past one lane country roads by endkess terraced rice paddies, temples and wide open countryside. Wave out at the enthusiastic village kids or stick out your hand for a high five as you ride past.
After the ride, treat yourself to a huge buffet of traditional Balinese food before being transferred back to your hotel. If time permits watch a Wayang puppet show at one of the local stages along the roadside en-route.
After breakfast this morning you will be transferred to the airport at Denpasar for your flight back home.
